NCBA YLD COVID-19 Wellness Club

As a way to stay connected and highlight your wellness while isolated under the state’s Stay at Home Order, from April 1 through May 3, the NCBA YLD is inviting all young lawyers to upload their wellness-related activities through Strava, an app designed to connect and track exercises using GPS data. Strava is completely free with no advertising in its mobile application. Here’s how you can join in the fun:

  • Register for Strava online or downloand the app;
  • Go to the “Explore” tab and click on “Clubs”;
  • Search for the club titled “NCBA YLD COVID-19 Wellness Club”;
  • Join the club; and
  • Start logging your activities

The activities can be anything: walking, running, cycling, high-intensity interval training workouts, CrossFit, yoga, or whatever it is you like to do. Be sure to sync your watch or other fitness wearable with the Strava app on your phone so your workouts or activities will automatically upload. No manual upload is needed!

Please encourage each other along your respective journeys by sharing your activities via social media using the hashtags #ncbayldwellness or #ncbawellness. As a part of your membership in this group, we will share virtual workout opportunities, which likely will include a virtual 5K. Please feel free to host other virtual workouts with your lawyer colleagues and friends and share them with this group.

We will also be posting wellness, training, and nutrition tips to those who join the club. Prizes redeemable in a young lawyer’s geographic area will be awarded the week of May 4th through May 8th, which coincidentally is the ABA’s inaugural lawyer well-being week, to the following persons:

  • Most activities logged between 4/1 and 5/3;
  • Fastest male virtual 5K time;
  • Fastest female virtual 5K time;
  • Most improved mile time; and
  • Most active non-runner.

Finally, over the course of the next month, the YLD will be sharing articles from young lawyers, fitness experts, and nutritionists alike to provide you the resources you need to stay well in the midst of a global respiratory pandemic.

Let’s be well and promote the wellness of our colleagues! Any questions? Contact Lisa Arthur or Kevin Pratt.
