Walden Named The Fresh Market’s First Head of Diversity

The Fresh Market, Inc., based in Greensboro, announced earlier this month that Gerald L. Walden Jr. has been appointed to serve as its first Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Head of Diversity. He joined The Fresh Market in 2004 and was serving as Vice President, Head of Legal at the time of the announcement. Walden graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. He received the Juris Doctor in 2001 from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he served as Director of Externships (Adjunct Clinical Professor) from 2011-19. Walden earned an MBA from the Elon University Martha and Spencer Love School of Business in 2014. He served on the NCBA Board of Governors and NCBF Board of Directors from 2016-19, is a former co-chair of the Minorities in the Profession Committee, and in 2013 received the NCBA’s Citizen Lawyer Award.

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Welcomes New Partner, Associate

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings welcomes Kent Jones as a partner and Josh Stone as an associate attorney. Both Jones and Stone have joined the real estate practice group in Charlotte.

Kent Jones focuses his practice in commercial real estate development, finance, commercial leasing, loan workouts and general corporate law. He assists developers, public/private partnerships, investors, and lenders in managing and closing commercial real estate transactions. Jones graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South with a Bachelor of Arts and from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University with a J.D.

Josh Stone focuses his practice in commercial real estate transactions. He has assisted clients in many transactional matters, such as real estate acquisitions and development and real estate based financing, as well as other corporate matters. Stone also has prior experience as a financial advisor. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in economics and from West Virginia University College of Law with a J.D.

Fox Rothschild Announces New Managing Partners

Fox Rothschild announced that Richard A. Coughlin was named managing partner and will practice in the firm’s office in Greensboro. Coughlin, a trial lawyer, focuses his practice on commercial litigation and intellectual property disputes. He assists businesses in a variety of issues, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Furman University and a J.D. from University of Georgia School of Law.

The firm also named Jeffrey P. MacHarg as managing partner of the firm’s office in Charlotte. MacHarg assists clients with complex, non-traditional commercial disputes. His practice encompasses a variety of industries, such as nuclear energy, banking, transportation, manufacturing and insurance. MacHarg graduated from Duke University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in history, and from George Washington University Law School, where he earned a J.D.

Rachel Mosser Joins Maginnis Howard Law

Rachel Mosser has joined Maginnis Howard Law, where she will practice as a personal injury attorney. In her role, she will represent clients who have been injured because of another person’s negligence, entitling them to fair compensation. Mosser graduated from the University of South Carolina, where she double majored in Criminal Justice and Criminology and English. She obtained a J.D. from Campbell Law School.

Seven Attorneys Join Robinson Bradshaw

Robinson Bradshaw recently welcomed seven attorneys to the firm, Managing Partner Allen Robertson announced.

Kirk P. Altman is a transactional attorney who focuses his practice primarily on corporate finance. His experience includes representing both lenders and borrowers in many types of term loan, revolving, cross-border and multicurrency credit facilities, both secured and unsecured. He also has experience working with startups and venture capital groups on a variety of formation, fundraising and general corporate issues. Prior to joining the firm, Altman was an attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright in Dallas. He earned his law degree, MBA and bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

 

Patrick H. Hill represents businesses across various industries in high-stakes litigation in state and federal courts. He has experience navigating complex litigation, including multidistrict litigation, class actions and nationwide mass torts, and has defended clients against product liability, RICO, public nuisance, wrongful death, high-value personal injury, employment discrimination, premises liability and medical malpractice claims. He previously served as law clerk to Judge Frank M. Hull of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Chief Judge W. Keith Watkins of the Middle District of Alabama. Hill graduated with high honors from Emory University School of Law and received his bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University.

Matthew D. Kusel’s practice focuses on representing private and publicly traded companies in a variety of securities transactions and compliance matters, including advising clients on compliance and disclosure issues under the federal securities laws. He also regularly represents issuers and underwriters in registered and 144A/Reg S debt offerings, liability management transactions, corporate restructurings and acquisition financings. He earned his law degree from Vanderbilt Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Preetha Suresh Rini represents clients in complex business litigation and appeals. She has wide-ranging experience, including contract disputes and business torts involving allegations of fraud, copyright and trademark infringement cases, First Amendment violations, and unfair and deceptive trade practice claims. She previously served as law clerk to Judge Mark A. Davis of the North Carolina Court of Appeals. Rini graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and received her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Centre College.

Emily J. Schultz is an experienced class action and complex commercial disputes litigator. She has defended numerous companies and financial institutions facing putative class actions for alleged violations of federal securities laws; represented major clients in complex commercial disputes and federal antitrust litigation; and counseled clients through high-stakes DOJ, SEC and internal investigations. She earned her law degree from Columbia Law School and her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from The College of William & Mary.

Lauren M. Talboom focuses her practice on commercial real estate transactions. She has broad experience representing institutional lenders in a variety of single property and portfolio loan originations and modifications, as well as representing landlords and tenants in retail and office leasing transactions. Talboom also has experience representing sellers in the purchase of large-scale multifamily residential properties. She earned her law degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law and her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Clemson University.

Rosemary Chandler Wells practices corporate law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. She represents public and privately held companies and private equity firms and their portfolio companies in corporate transactions across industries, including health care, manufacturing and technology. Wells also advises clients on corporate governance matters, commercial agreements and equity-based incentive compensation programs. She graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law and received her bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, from Boston College.
