Stephen Bell has joined Cranfill Sumner & Hatzog LLP (CSH Law). Bell is an associate attorney in civil litigation. He has over seven years of experience litigating complex commercial matters. His practice areas are commercial litigation, as well as class actions, multi-district litigation and real property disputes. As outside counsel, Stephen has assisted businesses across the state in a number of areas, including regulatory issues. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Law and his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Clemson University.

 

 

Rochelle B. Mayfield has joined the Charlotte office of Eller Tonnsen Bach as of counsel. Her area of practice is workers’ compensation defense, and she has 12 years of experience in workers’ compensation litigation. Before Eller Tonnsen Bach, she practiced at Hedrick Gardner Kincheloe & Garofalo LLP in Charlotte. Her clients included employers and insurance carriers. Mayfield has served as a volunteer with Legal Aid of North Carolina and the North Carolina Bar Association’s 4All Statewide Service Day. Mayfield received her Juris Doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

 

R. Scott Tobin was named as a partner at Taylor English Duma, LLP. Tobin practices in the areas of business, finance, strategic partnerships, licensing, mergers, and acquisitions, emerging companies and venture capital, corporate and litigation. In his role as U.S. general counsel, he provides support to international companies. He has extensive experience advising clients on risk and growth opportunities during crucial moments. Tobin graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law and UNC Chapel Hill, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He serves as an Executive Committee member for the University of North Carolina School of Law Alumni Association.

 

Parker Poe Welcomes New Partners

Steve Carey practiced at WilmerHale in Washington, D.C. prior to becoming partner at Parker Poe. He also served as clerk in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Carey’s areas of practice are complex litigation and appeals, regulatory counseling, and government enforcement matters. His clients have included companies, universities, financial institutions, and municipalities and local governments. Carey received his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from Boston College.

 

Jeff Morris, a North Carolina State Bar board certified specialist in estate planning and probate law, practices in federal and state income, estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes. He supports clients in issues regarding trusts, estate planning, and estate administration. He has advised in matters of partnerships and S corporations, estate and fiduciary litigation, and estate administration. Morris obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law and his Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University.

 

 

Jordan Temple provides guidance to both public and private companies in matters of complex business issues. His practice areas include securities, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, business law, and venture capital, as well as governance, risk and compliance. He has experience advising clients in purchases and sales of businesses, investments, and buyouts. Before attending law school, Temple worked as a financial analyst in the legal technology field. Temple obtained his Juris Doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Cincinnati School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, from the University of South Carolina.

 

 

Robinson Bradshaw Announces Two New Shareholders

The firm welcomes two new shareholders, North Carolina solicitor General Matthew W. Sawchak and litigator Stephen D. Feldman.

Matthew Sawchak is a State Bar board certified specialist in appellate practice. As the solicitor general for North Carolina (2017-2020), he was lead counsel for critical cases in the area of civil appeals. His practice areas include antitrust and competition, appellate law, class actions, corporate and securities litigation, and government and internal investigations. He has significant experience in both federal and North Carolina courts. Sawchak received his Juris Doctorate with honors from Duke Law School and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Harvard University. After graduating from law school, he was a clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas when Thomas served on the U.S. Court of Appeals.

 

Stephen Feldman has extensive experience practicing in the areas of complex litigation, antitrust and appeals. His clients have included businesses, government agencies, and shareholders. Much of his work involves the North Carolina Business Court. Before becoming a shareholder at Robinson Bradshaw, Feldman practiced with Ellis & Winters LLP in Raleigh. With the North Carolina Bar Association, Feldman has served with the Appellate Practice Section and the Antitrust and Complex Business Disputes Section, and has presented at the Appellate Practice Section’s annual meeting. Feldman obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School and his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Washington University.
