Dear Fellow International Practice Section Members,

Welcome to the 2019-2020 Bar Association year, I am honored to serve as your chair and would like to thank Jennifer Parser for her role as chair for the 2018-2019 Bar year.

Did you notice anything different? Last year, we changed our name to “International Practice Section” to better capture the wide range of cross-border work that our members do. We will continue to provide these updates and other interesting articles to our members through our blog. If you come across any articles that would make a good addition to the blog, be sure to send them our way and we’ll do the rest!

This year, I am looking forward to meeting and interacting with more of you to better serve your needs as practitioners in the ever-changing cross-border practice landscape.

We have several exciting events planned for our members. Be on the lookout for more details and for other events in case you can’t make it to any of the ones below.

  • Sept. 9 at 5:30pm: LLM Reception in Cary at Der Biergarten. This is open to all members and international LLM students. If you have not received your invitation via email, please let me know!
  • Dec. 9: Happy Hour in Charlotte.
  • Feb. 13: Dinner in Pinehurst.
  • Feb. 14: Annual Meeting and CLE (topic suggestions are welcome!) in Pinehurst.
  • April 29: Happy Hour in Greensboro

Lastly, take a moment to renew your membership so you can take full advantage of member benefits. With the NCBA’s new membership benefits, you will receive one free hour of online CLE per month as well as a free membership to one section (I hear International Practice is a good one). As a member, you also have access to the NCBA’s extensive CLE manuscripts e-library.

If you have any feedback on our Section or would like to get involved, we’d love to have you! Feel free to reach out any time.

Let’s make it a great year!
