In the Environment of Change: EENR Three-State CLE & Annual Meeting

There’s a new twist to this year’s Environment, Energy, & Natural Resources Law Section Annual Meeting and CLE Program in Asheville, May 11-12. It will be the first-ever three-state joint conference bringing together environmental attorneys, regulators, and consultants from Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina for continuing legal education and professional development. Planners from each state’s Environmental Law Sections have spent the past several months putting together a program of interest and relevance to those under the jurisdiction of Region IV of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Click here to register for the conference at the Renaissance Asheville Hotel. The program emphasizes relevant federal and regional environmental issues in all three states and includes state-specific programming in break-out sessions. Program presentations provide the perspectives of regulators and attorneys from all three states as well as representatives from EPA Region IV.

A reception for early arrivals will start the program off on Thursday evening. Friday morning will begin with breakfast and separate sessions for each state’s members, including our Annual Meeting. Then practitioners from Georgia and South Carolina will join each other for General Sessions Friday and Saturday. Several panel discussions on national and regional topics are geared to provide perspectives from all three states. Offerings include:

  • Brownfields Development
  • Clean Power Plan
  • Waters of the United States
  • Coastal Energy and Development
  • Updates from EPA Region IV

The program wraps up on Saturday with a session that explores mindfulness in attorney wellness. The course will count towards the substance abuse/mental health credit requirement for the North Carolina Bar.

As always, the schedule allows for ample opportunities for social interaction with new contacts and old friends and to enjoy springtime in the beautiful Asheville area. Sponsor support has been tremendous to provide networking receptions and social activities, including golf and brewery tours.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity!
